Member Monday! Kim Mangle Kim Mangle Consulting, LLC

Short description of what you business does or what you specialize in:  I am a nonprofit consultant who is passionate about helping nonprofit organizations to fully realize their missions. I support nonprofits and government clients with strategic planning, grant writing, developing fundraising plans, board development and meeting facilitation. I have worked extensively with health care related nonprofits such as Children's Hospital Colorado, the Colorado Association for School-Based Health Care, and Cooking Matters Colorado. I am a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and have helped my clients raise over $12 million. In 2017, I made a strategic shift to focus more on serving nonprofits located in my own community of Golden and have since had the pleasure of supporting the Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA), Golden Backpack Program, Neighborhood Rehab Project, Golden Visitors Center, Friends of Dinosaur Ridge, the Golden History Museum, the City of Golden and CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. I founded the Golden Executive Director Roundtable in 2018, which includes executive directors and leaders of nonprofits that are located in and/or serving the Golden community. The Roundtable now has about 50 nonprofit and community partner members and we meet every other month, with support from a newly formed Steering Committee.  How did you get into this line of work? I have worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. I have always wanted to use my professional skills to give back and support the community. I first started out in various staff positions at a variety of nonprofit organizations, including volunteering as a medical interpreter at Denver Health, serving as Special Events Coordinator at the HIV/AIDS Resource Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan; Director of Volunteers & Community Outreach at 9Health Fair; Development Director at the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative; and then a Program Officer the Colorado Health Foundation, which is Colorado’s largest foundation.  In 2009, I founded Kim Mangle Consulting LLC and have loved serving over three dozen nonprofit and government clients from all over the country and state of Colorado. I am a Leadership Golden alumna and a Golden native. I grew up in Genesee and attended Ralston Elementary, Bell Junior High and Golden High School, then relocated to Littleton where I graduated from Heritage High School. I got my undergraduate degree in Political Science at CU Boulder and then a second bachelors degree in Spanish from Metropolitan State University. I obtained my Masters in Public Administration from CU Denver with a focus on nonprofit management and health care policy in 2005. Who inspires you? My grandparents, Winston and Shirley Wolvington. My grandfather was a First Judicial District Judge (Jefferson and Gilpin Counties) and he modeled what it means to be compassionate, kind and fair. I used to go watch him serve on the bench at the old courthouse in downtown Golden. My grandmother was an active volunteer, serving with the Women’s League of Voters and spending countless hours volunteering on trail building projects. My grandparents hiked the entire Colorado Trail and helped to build many of the trail segments. They inspired a deep love and respect for the outdoors.  Do you have a request or ask of the Connects community?
